Ann Girling – The Unlikely Guru

Women in Wellness

At 76, Ann Girling is redefining what it means to live well, work with purpose, and build a business that supports both. With a background rooted in care and a future focused on helping others prioritise their health, Ann’s journey into wellness is anything but conventional—earning her the name ‘The Unlikely Guru’.

From the NHS to a New Chapter

Ann’s career began in the NHS, where she spent years as a nurse and health visitor. Supporting others was second nature, but the demands of the role eventually took their toll.

“I was suffering from quite extreme stress,” Ann shares. “At 52, I made the decision to leave.”

What followed wasn’t a carefully mapped-out plan, but a series of opportunities that led her into coaching and self-employment. And then, in 2011, something new appeared—Arbonne.

A Serendipitous Start

Ann discovered Arbonne through networking, initially seeing it simply as a way to generate additional income. But the motivation ran deeper.

“My grandson had just been born, and I knew there was a chance my family would move to America. I needed a way to create the financial freedom to visit whenever I wanted.”

What began as a practical solution quickly evolved into something far more meaningful.

More Than Just Skincare

While Arbonne is widely recognised for its skincare, Ann is quick to challenge that perception.

“Skincare was the starting point, but the nutrition range has grown significantly over the years.”

From energy-boosting ‘fizz sticks’ to gut health programmes and new innovations like natural GLP-1 support and NAD+ supplements, the brand focuses on supporting the body at a cellular level.

“It’s about optimising the body, not fixing it,” Ann explains.

With vegan, gluten-free formulations that combine plant-based ingredients with scientific research, Ann believes in the products because she uses them herself.

“You have to be a product of the product,” she says. “That’s where the trust comes from.”

A Mission Rooted in Self-Care

Today, Ann’s mission is clear: to help people—particularly women in business—prioritise their health.

“So many women invest time, money and energy into everything else, but not themselves.”

Her work isn’t just about products or income. It’s about sustainability—personally and professionally.

“If women burn out, what happens to all that talent and passion? The world needs that energy.”

Building a Business That Works for You

Alongside the wellness benefits, Ann also offers others the opportunity to build their own Arbonne business.

With a low entry point and flexible structure, it appeals to those seeking additional income, more time, or a greater sense of purpose.

“You can start for around £50, but you do need to invest in the products and the process. Like anything, you get out what you put in.”

She also addresses common misconceptions around network marketing.

“People are sceptical, and that’s fine. But I always say—learn about it. Get educated. If you’re consistent and committed, you can build something that gives you real freedom.”

The Unlikely Guru

Beyond Arbonne, Ann has created a platform to share her decades of experience and insight.

The Unlikely Guru was born from a desire to give more—to guide, support and empower others through life’s challenges.

With a growing Facebook community and her ‘Transformation Workbook’, Ann helps individuals create realistic self-care plans that fit into everyday life.

“You can’t live 76 years and not have something to share,” she says. “And if you don’t share it, you’ve wasted it.”

Ann Girling’s story is a powerful reminder that wellness isn’t a destination—it’s a lifelong commitment. Whether through products, business, or personal growth, her message is simple but impactful:

Prioritise yourself. Because when you do, everything else works better.
