A new collaborative book celebrating the stories, experiences and journeys of remarkable women will officially launch in Liverpool this November – and for me, Becoming has already become so much more than a book.
There is something incredibly powerful about hearing a woman tell her story in her own words.
Not the polished LinkedIn version. Not the carefully edited biography. Not simply the job titles, businesses, successes or accolades.
The real story.
The moments that changed her. The decisions she questioned. The things that didn’t go to plan. The people who shaped her. The challenges she faced, the chances she took and everything that happened along the way.
That was the idea behind Becoming.
And on Thursday 26 November 2026, we will finally bring those stories together as we officially launch the book at Baby Clubhouse in Liverpool.
What is Becoming?
Becoming is a collaborative book bringing together the personal stories of women from different backgrounds, careers and stages of life.
There isn’t one definition of success running through these pages – and that is precisely the point.
Every woman’s journey is different.
We often meet people when they have already built the business, established the career, overcome the challenge or reached the point where everything appears to make sense.
But life rarely happens in a straight line.
Behind every woman is a collection of moments, choices, setbacks, relationships, risks, reinventions and experiences that helped her become the person she is today.
Those are the stories I wanted to capture.
Through a series of conversations and interviews, I have had the privilege of listening to each contributor tell me about her life and then turning those conversations into chapters written in her voice.
Some stories made me laugh.
Some stopped me in my tracks.
Some went in directions I hadn’t expected.
And some reminded me exactly why I wanted to create this book in the first place.
Because ordinary women often have extraordinary stories – they simply don’t always realise it.
Why women’s stories deserve to be told
One of the things I have become increasingly passionate about through The Female Boss Collective is helping women recognise the value of their own story.
We can become so close to our own experiences that we stop seeing what is interesting about them.
We think:
“Everyone goes through things like that.”
“Nobody would want to read about me.”
“I’m not successful enough yet.”
“My story isn’t dramatic enough.”
But storytelling isn’t about having the most dramatic life.
It’s about connection.
Someone can read about a decision you made ten years ago and recognise herself in it.
Someone can hear about the period when you had no idea what you were doing next and realise she isn’t the only one.
Someone can see what you built after a difficult chapter and think, maybe I can do that too.
That’s why these stories matter.
More than a business book
Although many of the women featured in Becoming are businesswomen, entrepreneurs, leaders and professionals, I never wanted this to become another traditional business book.
Because none of us is only our job.
Behind the businesses and careers are daughters, mothers, partners, friends and women who have experienced completely different versions of themselves over the years.
Becoming is about those versions too.
It’s about what happens between where we started and where we are now.
And perhaps most importantly, it’s about recognising that none of us is actually finished.
We’re all still becoming.

The afternoon will be an opportunity to meet the women behind the book, hear some of their stories and celebrate what we have created together.
Tickets are £25 and include a copy of Becoming.
And because it wouldn’t be a Female Boss event without carrying on the conversation afterwards, there will also be an after party at Dicey’s, which everyone is welcome to join.
For me, this isn’t about standing in a room and simply saying, we published a book.
It’s about celebrating every woman who trusted me with her story and every person who reads one of those stories and sees something of herself in it.

Something else has happened while creating the first Becoming.
Women have started approaching me and saying:
“I think I might have a story.”
And I love that.
Because you almost certainly do.
Conversations have now begun for Becoming Volume Two, and I am looking for the next group of women whose stories deserve a place on the page.
You don’t need to be famous.
You don’t need a huge business.
You don’t need thousands of social media followers.
And you certainly don’t need to have everything figured out.
You need a story.
Maybe you’ve changed direction completely.
Maybe you’ve built something from nothing.
Maybe life forced you to start again.
Maybe you’ve overcome something nobody looking at you today would ever know about.
Maybe you’ve spent years building a career or business and have finally realised that your journey could help somebody else.
Or maybe there is simply a voice in your head saying:
It’s time I told my story.
Listen to it.
A new chapter for The Female Boss Collective
Becoming represents something I want to do much more of through The Female Boss Collective.
Yes, visibility matters.
Being featured, appearing in the media, building your personal brand and becoming known for what you do all matter.
But the most powerful visibility often starts much earlier than that.
It starts with understanding your own story.
What makes you different?
What have you lived through?
What do you know now that you didn’t know five or ten years ago?
What do you want to be known for?
And what would happen if you stopped assuming nobody would be interested and started telling people?
Becoming began with an idea for one book.
I have a feeling it might become something much bigger.
For now, though, there is one very special afternoon in November to look forward to.
A room full of women.
A book full of stories.
And a chance to celebrate everything that brought each of them to this point.
Because we are never just who we are today.
We are everything it took to get here.
And we are still becoming.
