There is so much bad news in the world.
Every time we switch on the television, scroll through social media or read the headlines, we’re reminded of everything that’s going wrong. It can feel relentless.
So, I wanted to write something that simply made people smile.
I’m incredibly excited to finally share that my debut novel, Dancing Did It, launches on 1 September on Amazon.
It’s a story about friendship, fresh starts, finding confidence again and discovering that sometimes the most unexpected moments can change your life. It’s warm, uplifting and, I hope, the kind of book you finish with a smile on your face.
But this book isn’t just about telling a story.
It’s about making a difference too.
During the launch campaign, I’ll be donating from every copy sold to Liverpool Women’s Hospital, helping to support the incredible work they do for women and families across our region.
That felt important to me.
I am also taking part in Strictly for them this November so watch out for more on that !
If a book can entertain someone for a few hours while also giving something back to a charity that changes lives every single day, then that’s something worth celebrating.
As someone who has spent more than two decades telling other people’s stories through magazines, interviews and features, writing my own novel has been a completely different experience. Equal parts exciting, terrifying and incredibly rewarding.
Holding the proof copy in my hands for the first time was surreal.
For months it had existed as words on a screen, endless edits and late-night ideas. Suddenly it was a real book. One that, in just a few weeks’ time, will hopefully be sitting on bedside tables, tucked into holiday suitcases and wrapped up as gifts.
There have been moments where I’ve questioned myself, wondered whether anyone would read it and rewritten chapters more times than I can count. I imagine every author feels that at some point.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s this…
You don’t have to wait until you feel completely ready.
Sometimes you simply have to take the leap.
Whether Dancing Did It sells 50 copies or 500, I’ll already consider it a success because it’s allowed me to fulfil a lifelong ambition while supporting a cause that means something.
Of course, I’d love it to reach as many readers as possible.
I’d love people to recommend it to friends, pass it on to their mums, sisters and neighbours, and perhaps even remind someone that it’s never too late to embrace something new.
After all, that’s what good stories do.
They connect us.
They make us laugh.
They give us hope.
And sometimes, they help make the world just a little bit better.
Dancing Did It launches on 1 September 2026. So if you would like to support me supporting Liverpool Women’s Hospital please buy the book or you can donate to my strictly campaign here – Donate – Donation amount – JustGiving
I can’t wait for you to read it.
During the launch campaign (1st September to 21st November) , a donation from every copy sold will go to Liverpool Women’s Hospital. If you enjoy uplifting fiction with plenty of heart, I’d love you to join me on this journey.
